In a continued push to extend the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to eligible residents of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Health Department, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, organized a PMJAY Card Creation Camp on 22nd July at the Panchayat Hall in Wimberlygunj.
The camp received an encouraging response from the public, with 75 Ayushman Cards successfully generated for eligible beneficiaries. The initiative is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure that all eligible individuals are able to avail themselves of the health insurance benefits provided under the Government of India’s flagship healthcare scheme.
Beneficiaries from the PHH (Priority Household) and AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) ration card categories, as well as Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers, ASHA Workers, and senior citizens aged 70 and above, are eligible to create their PMJAY cards. Eligible individuals can generate their cards through multiple channels — by downloading the Ayushman App BIS 2.0 from the Google Play Store, visiting the official website https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in, or by approaching their nearest health centre for assistance.
Under AB-PMJAY, each beneficiary family is entitled to cashless treatment worth ₹5 lakh per year for secondary and tertiary care at empanelled hospitals across India.
The Health Department has urged all eligible residents to get their Ayushman Cards made at the earliest and take full advantage of the comprehensive health protection offered under the scheme.
