The ongoing shifting of two gravity main pipelines from Dhanikhari Dam to the Lamba Line Water Treatment Plant is expected to impact water supply in parts of Sri Vijaya Puram on July 26 and 27, 2025.
According to the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD), the interconnection of the existing gravity main with a newly laid 500 mm gravity main is scheduled during this period. As a result, the raw water supply to the Lamba Line Treatment Plant is likely to be disrupted temporarily.
This may affect drinking water distribution in municipal areas serviced by the command tanks of Buniyadabad, All India Radio, Ranchi Tekri, and Police Line.
Authorities have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to minimise inconvenience to the public. SVPMC has been requested to plan water distribution accordingly.
Residents have been advised to conserve water and use it judiciously. For immediate needs, tanker water supply will be made available from Jawahar Sarovar during the affected period.
