In a decisive move to curb illegal activities related to land and mineral use, the South Andaman District Administration has taken strict action against individuals involved in unauthorized extraction and dumping of earth in Tylerabad village.

During a recent field inspection, revenue officials detected illegal leveling and earth extraction being carried out with heavy machinery, in blatant violation of the A&N Islands Land Revenue Regulation and the Mines and Minerals Rules. The operation was found to be conducted without the requisite permissions, prompting swift administrative action.

A fine of ₹10,000 was imposed on the violators for carrying out the activity illegally.

Issuing a stern warning, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, cautioned that any involvement in unauthorized mining, transportation, or dumping of earth and minerals would attract stringent penal consequences. “The law will take its course, and violations will not be tolerated,” the official stated.

The District Administration has urged the public to comply with all legal provisions regarding land use, mining, and movement of construction materials. Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious or illegal activity to the District Control Room at 03192-240127, 238881, or toll-free helpline 1070. Reports can also be made via WhatsApp at 9531888844.

Officials have assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential to ensure their safety.
