The Hindu Rashtra Shakti (HRS), Andaman and Nicobar Unit, has commended the Aberdeen Police Station and the Police Control Room for their prompt action in reuniting a lost child with her family on Friday.

According to HRS State President Rakeshwar Lall, the incident occurred at around 9:00 AM when seven-year-old, a Class 2nd student of VKV Ranchi Basti and resident of Bathubasti, lost her way while returning home after Rakhi celebrations at school. She was found in a distressed state near Aboo Pan Shop, School Line.

On being informed of the matter at 10:45 AM, Mr. Lall contacted Aberdeen SHO Mr. Vishal Ram, who immediately dispatched a police team. The Police Control Room also responded without delay. By 12:30 PM, coordinated efforts led to the safe reunion of the child with her parents.

In a letter to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, HRS praised the police for their efficiency and dedication while also making several recommendations to enhance child safety in schools. These include:

• Issuing ID cards with verified parent or guardian contact details to all students.

• Ensuring no child is left unattended during events, particularly festivals.

• Conducting regular safety drills and awareness sessions for students.

The organisation has urged the Administration to direct the Education Department to implement these measures across all government and private schools in the Islands in the interest of the safety of students.
