Authorities have issued a weather alert for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning over the next few days.
Thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph and lightning are likely at one or two locations across the islands on August 30, and the same conditions are expected to persist on August 31 and September 1.
In addition, squally weather with surface wind speeds reaching 35-45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, is expected over the Andaman Sea and the islands. The sea conditions are likely to be rough during this period.
Fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea and Andaman & Nicobar Islands from August 31 to September 2 due to the hazardous conditions.
