The 1st State Level Committee Meeting of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was convened on 29th August 2025, at the Mini Conference Hall, Secretariat, under the chairmanship of the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Social Welfare), A&N Administration.
The meeting was attended by Secretary (Social Welfare), Nodal Officer (Prohibition), State Level Committee Members, officers from Police, Health, Education Departments, NGOs, retired civil servants, and representatives from the State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA), Tamil Nadu, who joined virtually.
Discussions focused on strengthening awareness campaigns, preventive education, rehabilitation services, and inter-departmental coordination to effectively combat substance abuse in the Islands. Emphasising the importance of joint efforts, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary urged government departments, NGOs, and community stakeholders to work collectively towards building a drug-free Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The meeting concluded with all stakeholders pledging their full cooperation in ensuring effective implementation of NMBA activities across the Islands. (Story Based on PR)
