The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), A&N Administration, in collaboration with the Forest Department, organized a special initiative at Arong village, Car Nicobar, aimed at improving child nutrition and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

As part of the programme, table eggs were distributed to school children in the presence of members of the Tribal Council, the Education Officer In-Charge, teachers, students, and the Captain of Arong village. The initiative focused on providing high-protein nutrition to young learners to support their overall health and well-being.

Alongside the distribution, fruit-bearing and fodder trees were planted at the Composite Livestock Farm (CLF), Arong, in partnership with the Forest Department. The activity, attended by students, teachers, and community leaders, emphasized the need to integrate agriculture with ecological practices to ensure livestock feed production and environmental sustainability.

Officials said the initiative reflects the AH&VS Department’s continued commitment to strengthening nutritional outcomes and fostering sustainable development across the islands. The active participation of the Tribal Council, education officials, and the Arong community highlighted their joint dedication towards child welfare and environmental conservation.

The AH&VS and Forest Department reiterated their plans to carry forward such collaborative efforts, in line with the A&N Administration’s vision of promoting nutritional security, sustainable agriculture, and community welfare in the Nicobar Islands.
