Lt. Governor Extends Greetings on Onam and Teachers’ Day

The Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), has extended warm greetings to the people of the Islands on the occasions of Onam and Teachers’ Day.

Conveying his best wishes on Onam, the Lt. Governor said the festival reflects glorious cultural traditions and timeless values, symbolizing unity, compassion, and inclusiveness. Remembering the legendary King Mahabali, he highlighted the ideals of justice, equality, and collective well-being. He observed that the vibrant Pookalam and traditional Onasadya embody the spirit of diversity, generosity, and togetherness while preserving cultural heritage and guiding the Islands towards peace, progress, and sustainable development.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Admiral D.K. Joshi paid tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary and conveyed greetings to the teaching community of the Islands. He underlined the vital role of teachers in shaping young minds, fostering curiosity, and instilling values, while also advancing the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Naya Bharat’. The Lt. Governor noted their efforts in developing competencies among students and supporting the goals of the National Education Policy and the National Curriculum Framework. He extended his appreciation to teachers and wished them success in their noble mission of nation-building.
