In a major drive against illicit activities, the North & Middle Andaman District Police conducted a series of coordinated raids on 14th September across Kadamtala Bazar, Uttara, Shantanu, and adjoining areas. The operations were aimed at curbing the menace of illegal liquor trade and the sale of wildlife meat.

Acting on credible intelligence inputs, teams led by the SDPO Rangat raided Mondal Restaurant and Bengali Restaurant in Kadamtala. During the search, police recovered around 10 kg of suspected wild boar meat and approximately 9 kg (including utensil weight) of suspected cooked venison. The seized wildlife products were handed over to the Forest Department under Section 50(1)(c) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, for further investigation and legal action.

On the same day, police units launched parallel raids targeting the illicit liquor trade in Kadamtala Bazar, Uttara, Shantanu, and nearby locations. The crackdown resulted in the seizure of 54 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) of various brands and 9 bottles of beer. Five FIRs were registered under Excise Regulations, and all recoveries were videographed, sealed on the spot, and documented in the presence of independent witnesses.

These operations underscore the police department’s zero-tolerance approach towards both illicit liquor and wildlife crimes.

Police have urged the public to share credible information about criminal or illegal activities with the nearest police station or through helplines 100, 112, and 03192-273344. The identity of informants will be kept confidential, and suitable rewards will be given.
