The Island School U-17 football team began their campaign in the prestigious 64th Subroto Cup Football Tournament on a winning note, defeating Telangana with a commanding 3-0 scoreline in their opening league match 16 September 2025.
Displaying composure, strategy, and excellent coordination, the young Islanders dominated the game from start to finish. Their attacking intent, coupled with a disciplined defence, highlighted the team’s rigorous preparation and determination to shine on the national stage.
Striker Barbeta set the tone with a clinical opener, before Willfenandis Nathan extended the lead with a powerful strike. Augustine Joshua then sealed the victory with a perfectly timed finish, ensuring a confident start for the Island School side.
