Car Nicobar Police Seizes 55 Litres of Illicit Liquor, Destroys 1,050 Litres of Lahan in Arong Jungle Raid

In a major crackdown on illicit liquor, the Car Nicobar Police conducted a special excise raid in the jungle areas of Arong village on Tuesday, leading to the seizure of 55 litres of illicit liquor and the destruction of 1,050 litres of lahan (fermented wash).

The operation, led by SI J. Rama Krishna and the beat police team from PS Car Nicobar, was carried out simultaneously at three different locations. According to police, the lahan was found concealed in jungle areas near the houses of the accused and was destroyed on the spot. The seized liquor was documented with photographic evidence.

Following the raid, three separate cases were registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Excise Regulation, 1876.

The search operations were conducted under the supervision of Mr. Aditya Kumar, DANIPS, SDPO Car Nicobar, and overall direction of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SP (D) Nicobar.

Police said the successful operation reflects their zero-tolerance approach towards illicit distillation and assured that efforts to curb such illegal activities will continue.
