In a bid to strengthen professional knowledge and technological awareness within the tourism sector, the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) organized a special workshop on Taxation and Artificial Intelligence at the ZSI Auditorium on 26th September 2025, as part of World Tourism Day celebrations.
The program began with a welcome address by Mr. Mohan Vinod, President of AATO, who emphasized the importance of staying updated on evolving taxation policies and technological advancements to foster the growth of the islands’ tourism industry. Mr. Vinod also extended his gratitude to Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Officer-in-Charge & Course Director, ANRC/ZSI, A&N Islands, for his valuable support in facilitating the seminar.
The workshop featured two technical sessions led by distinguished speakers. Mr. Arijit Mondal, Chartered Accountant, shared insights on taxation and compliance matters pertinent to the tourism industry, while Mr. S.L. Vinjit, CI (Computer Applications), DEO South Andaman, discussed the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in tourism services and business operations. The sessions were smoothly anchored by Ms. Tarannum Mohammad.
The event was graced by Mr. Vel Murugan, Assistant Director, India Tourism, Sri Vijaya Puram, who lauded AATO’s initiative in capacity building and extended his best wishes for the success of the workshop.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. K. Hamza, General Secretary, AATO, who expressed appreciation to the speakers, dignitaries, members, and participants for contributing to the workshop’s success.
The workshop saw active participation from AATO members and tourism stakeholders, reaffirming the association’s commitment to knowledge sharing, professional development, and the sustainable growth of the Andaman tourism sector.
