Acting on credible inputs, a joint team of the Mobile Squad Range and Garacharma Range carried out a search and seizure operation at a residence in the New Bimblitan area of Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil.
During the operation, officials seized 0.6733 cubic meters (44.65 rmt) of Padauk sawn timber of various sizes from the possession of the house owner. The raid was led by Mr. Hosea, Forest Ranger, RO Mobile Squad, and was assisted by Mr. Shyam Sunder Rao (Forester), Mr. Lokesh (Forester), Mr. Uttam Kr. Mistry (Forester), Mr. Susantu Sarkar (HFG), and Ms. Deviga (HFG), along with RPS Mazdoors.
The seized timber has been handed over to the Circle Office (HQ) Garacharma for safe custody, and a case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Indian Forest Act, 1927.
The Forest Department has urged the general public to provide information about any illegal forest or wildlife produce by calling the helpline number 03192-255228, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
