The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Mr. Niamat Ali, a 49-year-old resident of Shadipur, Sri Vijaya Puram, who went missing after travelling to Chennai for business in late July, has taken a tragic turn after Tamil Nadu Police confirmed the case as a murder.

According to A & N Police, a missing report for Mr. Niamat Ali was lodged at Aberdeen Police Station soon after his family reported him missing. Acting swiftly, a special team led by SI G. Mohan Rao and PC Jairaj was deputed to Chennai to trace the missing person.

During the investigation, the team coordinated with the S2 Police Station at Chennai Airport and collected crucial evidence, including CCTV footage, mobile call records, and witness statements. CCTV analysis revealed that Mr. Ali was last seen at Vandalur in the company of a young man identified as Mohammed Ayaan, a student from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands studying in Chennai.

Based on technical and circumstantial evidence, the team identified key suspects believed to have knowledge of Mr. Ali’s disappearance. Acting on inputs from the Aberdeen Police, Chennai Police registered an FIR (No. 36/2025) on August 10 at S2 Police Station, which was later transferred to Khilambakkam Police Station in Tambaram District for further investigation.

Subsequent developments by Tamil Nadu Police confirmed that the missing case had turned into a murder investigation. All materials and evidence collected by the Aberdeen Police team were handed over to their Tamil Nadu counterparts.

Following a representation by the victim’s family, Mr. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, personally intervened in the matter. He coordinated with the Chennai Police to ensure that prompt and necessary action was taken and continues to oversee the progress of the case.

The Andaman & Nicobar Police has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and his family and is maintaining close coordination with Tamil Nadu Police to extend any required support.
