Dweep Janata Party (DJP), Andaman and Nicobar Islands organised a Press Briefing under the Chairmanship of its President Col. KV.Cherian (Retd.) on 18th September 2021. Addressing the press briefing at length Mr. Govind Ram, DANICS (Retd.), General Secretary, Dweep Janta Party read out the 18 Agenda points and explained the logical justification behind every issue. President Col.KV Cherian (Retd.) also briefed local media about DJP’s Agenda.
The Agenda is as follows:-
- Establishment of Self-governing democratic body i.e either Legislative Assembly or restoration of Pradesh Council.
- Establishment of “Tribes Advisory Council” under Fifth Schedule (Article 244 (1)) of the Constitution of India.
- Establishment of Andaman and Nicobar U.T. Cadre for Civil and Police Service.
- 100% reservation of UT Administration jobs for domicile candidates of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- Construction of additional road and bridge, particularly in South Andaman to reduce commuting time and fuel.
- Implementation of Central Govt. Schemes such as CGHS and ECIS in A&N Islands.
- Creation of infra-structure inclusive of water-sports at Minnie Bay, Port Blair to promote tourism and generate self-employment for local youth.
- Establishment of independent “Fire and Rescue Services Department”.
- Filling-up of all vacant posts of Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
- Creation of new/additional posts of Tehsildar and Deputy Tehsildar to cope up the increased work in Revenue jurisdictions.
- Permanent absorption of all Daily Rated Mazdoors engaged in various departments for last five years or more.
- Construction of N.H 4 along the Eastern Coast of South Andaman up to Middle Strait to do away convoy system, also protecting Jarawas.
- Construction of separate Airport and Sea Port for safety and easy movements of civilians without any disruption to Defence Services.
- Finalization of “Revenue Settlement” of Port Blair, including regularisation of genuine left out cases of encroachments.
- Having given various statutory and heavy financial responsibilities the post of Panchayat Secretary be upgraded to Group ‘B’ Gazetted.
- Implementation of the long pending dream project of Rail and also establishment of Metro service in Port Blair city.
- Creation of “Border Management Force” with additional manpower and weapons for safety of border islands.
- Resolving long pending critical issue of Sri Lankan Tamils settled at Katchal Island in larger public interest of the Tamil Settlers as well as Tribals.
Further, in the press briefing, Mr. Govind Ram informed that during the forthcoming visit of the Hon’ble Home Minister of India to A & N Islands later this month , a delegation of DJP will meet Hon’ble HM and submit a memorandum having just one important issue of “Establishment of a Self-governing democratic body i.e. either Legislative Assembly or restoration of Pradesh Council.”
