The Department of Tourism, A&N Administration, in collaboration with allied departments, is set to host the Island Coconut Festival 2025 at the ITF Ground, Sri Vijaya Puram, on October 9 and 10 from 3 PM to 10 PM. This year’s edition will celebrate the vibrant theme – “Celebrating Coconut – Culture, Cuisine & Crafts of the Islands” – highlighting the unique traditions of the region.

The two-day festival promises a lively display of folk performances, coconut-themed culinary contests, local handicrafts, and artisan exhibits. It also aims to provide a platform for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and local entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and generate income.

In addition to cultural programs, the Tourism Department will organise a series of competitions to encourage public participation. A coconut de-husking competition for men and women will be held in association with the Agriculture Department. Other contests include cooking competitions and competitions for the best arts and handicrafts made from various parts of the coconut tree, with cash prizes to be awarded by the Tourism Department.

For younger visitors, the Education and Sports Department will set up a games corner at the ITF pavilion.

The Tourism Department has urged the public to actively participate in the planned competitions. Interested participants can register at the Tourism Department office or contact the Manager (Operations) at 9933255364.
