The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) has welcomed the launch of the 24×7 Online Ticket Reservation System by the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS), calling it a significant step towards improving convenience for both island residents and visiting tourists.

In a statement, AATO expressed its gratitude to Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, and Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Commissioner (Shipping), Secretary (Shipping) and Director, Shipping Services, for spearheading this initiative.

Terming the move as “progressive and timely,” AATO said the new online system would benefit tourism stakeholders by enabling ticket booking at any hour and allowing last-minute cancellations to be re-utilised efficiently. The association noted that this advancement would help streamline travel logistics across the islands and ensure better utilisation of available ship seats.

AATO President Mr. M. Vinod lauded the Administration’s continued efforts to enhance citizen-friendly and digital services, aligning with the Digital India vision and contributing to the strengthening of tourism infrastructure in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
