Capacity Building Program on Crimes Against Women Organised by State Hub for Empowerment of Women

The State Hub for Empowerment of Women, under the Directorate of Social Welfare, organised a capacity building program on crimes against women on 17th October 2025. The initiative aimed to enhance the knowledge, sensitivity, and coordination among officials from One Stop Centres (OSC), Women Help Lines (WHL), NGOs, and social leaders.

The first session was conducted by Ms. Suparna Biswas, Advocate at the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), who elaborated on various forms of crimes against women and the relevant legal provisions.

Speaking on the occasion, SI Agnes Bartholoma of the Women Cell, PS Ograbranj, emphasized, “Empowerment begins with awareness and action. Every officer trained today becomes a catalyst for change in society.”

Experts from the Directorate of Health Services also contributed to the workshop. Ms. Rakshanda Dubey, Clinical Psychologist, conducted interactive sessions on counselling and communication skills to equip field workers with tools to handle cases effectively.

Ms. Hemlatha, Gender Specialist at SHEW, raised awareness on gender sensitization and encouraged participants to promote gender equality and overcome societal stereotypes, underscoring their importance for the development of society.
