Awareness Programme on Sustainable Menstrual Waste Disposal Held at JNRM

The Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC), in collaboration with Dakshin Foundation, Andaman, jointly organized an awareness programme on “Sustainable Menstrual Waste Disposal” recently at the Lecture Gallery of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM).

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director (Science & Technology)–cum–Member Secretary (ANPCC), highlighted the importance of open discussions on menstrual health and the need to raise awareness within the community. Dr. Kandi Muthu, Assistant Professor, JNRM, also spoke on the occasion.

As part of the programme, the Youth Ambassadors of Dakshin Foundation, Andaman conducted interactive sessions on menstrual hygiene, myths and misconceptions related to menstruation, the use of sustainable menstrual products, and the safe disposal of menstrual waste.

The event aimed to promote environmentally responsible practices and encourage community participation in addressing menstrual health and waste management issues.
