Police Foil Drug Trafficking Attempt in Rangat, Seize 1 Kg of Ganja

In a swift and coordinated operation, Rangat Police foiled an illegal drug trafficking attempt at Dashratpur, Rangat, and seized approximately one kilogram of ganja from a suspect. The action followed credible intelligence received by the police.

The operation was carried out under the direction of Mr. Chandan G.S., DANIPS, SDPO Rangat, and led by Inspector Mohd. Sameer, SHO, PS Rangat. A dedicated raiding team comprising SI Abdul Sajeed, PCs K. Samir, T. Abdul Ameen, C.H. Prakesh Rao, M. Mohd. Mustafa, Mohsin Mohd, T. Devika, Neelam Pratima Toppo, Kiran Vikram Singh, and M.K. Akbar Ali, along with two independent witnesses, rushed to the location after receiving the tip-off.

On reaching the spot, the team found a suspect behaving suspiciously and attempting to conceal a bag. Acting promptly, the officers intercepted him and conducted a search, which led to the recovery of around one kilogram of ganja from his possession.

During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to his involvement in the offence. He was arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered at PS Rangat under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The North & Middle Andaman District Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining a drug-free society through swift enforcement and community cooperation. Authorities have urged the public to share any information related to drug trafficking or other illegal activities by contacting their nearest police station or calling 100, 112, or 03192-273344. The identity of informers, police assured, will be kept confidential and suitably rewarded.
