The Department of Tourism, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Environment & Forests and MY Bharat, will organize the Island Trekking Festival on November 15, 2025, from 7 AM to 9 AM at Mt. Manipur, one of South Andaman’s most scenic and historically significant trekking routes.
The event aims to promote eco-adventure tourism, encourage youth participation, and foster appreciation for the Islands’ natural beauty and historical heritage. It also seeks to inspire local youth to explore eco-guiding and adventure guiding as avenues for self-employment, aligning with the Administration’s vision of sustainable tourism development.
Participation will be limited to 30 individuals, including local youth, trekking enthusiasts, tour operators, and tourists. Selection will be based on first-come, first-served registration, and all participants will receive certificates from the Department of Tourism.
A special bus service will operate from Bambooflat Bus Terminus to the Forest Gate at Mt. Manipur and return after the trek. Light refreshments will be provided, though participants are welcome to carry their own snacks. Officials from the Department of Environment & Forests will guide trekkers along the trail, sharing insights into the area’s biodiversity and ecological significance.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, comprehensive safety and first-aid arrangements will be made in coordination with the Health Department.
Interested individuals may register with the Department of Tourism by November 14, 2025. For registration and details, contact Manager (Ops), Directorate of IP&T, Sri Vijaya Puram (9933255364) or Mr. Biswas, Coordinator, MY Bharat (9434286070).
