The Directorate of Health Services, in collaboration with the National Health Mission, organized a sensitization workshop on the prevention and control of snakebite envenoming at GSSS Manglutan on November 22. The programme aimed to educate students and teachers on timely response and safety measures related to snakebites.

Dr. Subrata Saha, State Nodal Officer for Prevention and Control of Snakebite Envenoming, served as the resource person for the workshop. He was joined by Dr. Rajiv Kumar Ghosh, MPH, District Public Health Officer (South Andaman). The experts highlighted crucial aspects including early identification of snakebites, essential first-aid procedures, and the importance of community awareness to reduce risks and fatalities.

The session encouraged participants to adopt safe practices and support timely medical intervention in snakebite incidents, which continue to be a significant public health concern in rural and forest-fringe areas.
