The Directorate of Education on 29th November 2025, conducted the first UPSC Civil Services Examination orientation programme at the State Library, Sri Vijaya Puram, marking a significant step toward supporting aspirants preparing for one of the nation’s toughest competitive exams.
Mr. Vikram Singh, Director (Education), led the session with a detailed presentation on the UPSC exam structure, syllabus, and preparation roadmap. He also informed participants that a regular orientation-cum-coaching programme will soon be held at the State Library for selected candidates, including tribal students. He further highlighted various study resources and support mechanisms available for aspirants.
Ms. Tripti Kalhans, IAS, Assistant Commissioner (Settlement), guided participants through the examination pattern, book selection, and strategies for choosing optional subjects. She also offered practical tips for beginners on how to start their preparation effectively.
The event also featured an inspirational address by Mr. Firoz Alam, SDPO, Swaraj Dweep, who shared his personal journey and preparation strategies, motivating students aspiring for careers in civil services.
Around 120 students attended the programme, which concluded with an interactive doubt-clearing session. As a gesture of appreciation, Ms. Archana Singh, DDE (Planning) and Nodal Officer, State Library, presented mementos to the speakers.
The initiative is expected to provide structured guidance and mentorship to aspiring civil servants in the islands.
