The week-long Diglipur Vikas Mela 2025 commenced on 08th December 2025, at Navin Nagar Ground with a vibrant inaugural ceremony led by Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman, Mr. Sushant Padha, IAS, who attended as the chief guest. The event drew the participation of senior district officials, PRI representatives, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and a large number of local residents.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner praised the efforts of the DAY-NRLM unit and Panchayati Raj Institutions for organising the Mela to strengthen rural livelihood opportunities, enhance public awareness, and promote inter-departmental coordination. He urged residents to participate actively, learn about government initiatives, and support SHG entrepreneurship.
Assistant Commissioner Mr. Abhishek Gulia commended the initiative and encouraged community involvement in the developmental activities being showcased.
The Vikas Mela features an extensive range of stalls by various departments, highlighting government schemes, welfare programs, and public-oriented services. A major attraction is the participation of SHGs from across Diglipur Block, displaying local handicrafts, processed foods, and innovative livelihood products.
Citizens can directly interact with departments including Agriculture, Fisheries, Health, Rural Development, Forest, Education, Industries, and others. Awareness drives, on-spot registrations, demonstrations, and grievance facilitation counters form key components of the event.
The Mela will remain open to the public till December 14, 2025, featuring cultural performances, awareness sessions, and special activities throughout the week.
