In a continued crackdown on the drug menace in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Police Station Aberdeen conducted two successful raids on December 10, 2025, leading to the arrest of two drug peddlers in separate cases and the seizure of methamphetamine.
Acting on credible information, a police team led by Inspector Vishal Ram, Station House Officer (SHO), PS Aberdeen, was constituted and swiftly mobilised. The team included Sub-Inspector Bharat, Head Constable Sunil Singh Yadav, and Constables P. Mohd. Rafique, Jagdish Babu, Surender Singh Yadav and Anup Majhi.
During the first operation, the team intercepted a car at Lamba Line and recovered 7 grams of methamphetamine from the possession of the driver, identified as C. Sathya Priyan (26), son of N. Chandran, a resident of Dairy Farm.
In a subsequent raid conducted by the same team at Marine Hill near the Fisheries Training Centre, the police recovered 11 grams of methamphetamine from S. Sarat Kumar (29), son of Keshvan Sasi, a resident of Nayasahar, Burmanallah.
Both accused were arrested under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and separate cases were registered against them. They were later produced before the Hon’ble Court and remanded to judicial custody.
The operations were carried out under the command of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, South Andaman, with overall supervision by Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
Reiterating its firm commitment to combating drug-related crimes, the South Andaman District Police stated that such coordinated and timely actions reflect their resolve to safeguard the youth and society from the harmful effects of narcotics.
