The much-awaited five-day Island Tourism Festival (ITF) 2025 will be held from December 27 to 31 at the ITF Ground, Sri Vijaya Puram, promising a vibrant celebration of the cultural heritage, traditions and developmental progress of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Organised annually in December by the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism in association with the Directorate of Art & Culture and other line departments, the festival showcases a rich blend of cultural performances, traditional music and dances, arts, local craftsmanship and island cuisines, offering visitors an immersive experience of the Islands’ unique identity.
In a bid to make the festival more inclusive, cultural programmes will also be organised at multiple locations across the Islands for the benefit of residents of remote areas. These venues include the ITF Ground at VIP Road, Marina Esplanade, Wandoor, Wimberlygunj, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and Hut Bay in South Andaman; Baratang, Rangat, Mayabunder and Diglipur in North & Middle Andaman; and Car Nicobar, Nancowrie and Campbell Bay in the Nicobar group of Islands.
A number of popular events such as the Healthy Baby Show, Flower Show, Pet Show and Rangoli competitions will be organised by various departments. Government departments will also set up stalls highlighting developmental activities and progress achieved in different sectors, while Self-Help Groups will display and sell local handicrafts and homemade products.
Continuing the tradition of previous years, a Hasya Kavi Sammelan (comic poetry session) will also be organised by the Department of Official Language, adding a lighter cultural flavour to the festivities.
Food courts offering a variety of cuisines and fun games for children will further enhance the festive atmosphere throughout the five-day event.
The general public has been invited to participate in large numbers and enjoy the festival, which promises a lively mix of culture, cuisine and entertainment. (Story based on PR)
