CITU Elects New 48-Member State Committee at Andaman & Nicobar State Conference

The 10th Andaman & Nicobar State Conference of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) concluded on December 21 with the election of a new 48-member State Committee. The two-day conference was held on December 20 and 21 at Sri Vijaya Puram.

At the conference, R. Surendran Pillai was elected as President, B. Chandrachoodan as General Secretary, and Anand Rajan as Treasurer of the newly constituted State Committee. The delegates also elected D. Ayyappan, Daneil Aint, and Shyamal Koley as Vice Presidents.

In addition, P. Sathyapal, P.K. Khalid, S.P. Kalairajan, S. Chinnaiah, Shipra Bala, M. Yugander, and R. Rajendran were elected as the Organising Secretaries of the State Committee. The conference further elected 35 State Committee Members, which includes two vacant positions.

The State Conference reviewed organisational activities, discussed issues concerning workers in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and outlined future programmes aimed at strengthening trade union activities across the Union Territory. The newly elected committee is expected to lead the organisation in advancing workers’ rights and addressing labour-related challenges in the islands.
