The Government Secondary School (GSS), Delanipur, successfully organised its 35th Annual Athletic Meet for the academic year 2025–26 at the school campus on 23rd December 2025, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students and staff.
The athletic meet was formally inaugurated by Mr. Shahul Hameed, Chairperson, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, who attended the programme as the chief guest. He declared the meet open after administering the oath to the participating athletes in the presence of Ms. Pushpa Devi Mishra, Principal, Rabindra Bangla Vidhyalaya, who graced the occasion as guest of honour.
Addressing the students, the chief guest underlined the significance of sports in shaping character and promoting overall development alongside academic excellence. He noted that participation in sports helps inculcate discipline, teamwork, leadership and a healthy competitive spirit among students, which are essential qualities for success in life. He later distributed prizes to winners and achievers of various track and field events.
The valedictory function was graced by Mr. Ramzan Ali, Councillor, SVPMC (Ward No. 3) and Member of the SMDC, as the chief guest. Bhanu Prakash, Junior Engineer, APWD, attended the closing ceremony as guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, the councillor appreciated the students for their commendable performances and stated that GSS Delanipur has consistently demonstrated excellence in both academics and co-curricular activities.
Earlier, Mohammed Younus, Headmaster (SS), welcomed the gathering and highlighted the role of annual sports events in identifying young talent and fostering a spirit of unity and sportsmanship among students.
