Two-Day Beekeeping Training Programme Held at Chitrakut in Rangat

The Department of Agriculture, Rangat, in association with UTATMA, organised a two-day farmers-oriented training programme on “Beekeeping, Shifting of Colonies, Bee-box Management, Honey Extraction and Marketing” at the Coconut Plantation, Chitrakut, on December 24 and 26.

The programme aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills in scientific beekeeping practices and to promote beekeeping as a sustainable income-generating activity. The training commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Dhana Laxmi K., Agriculture Assistant, who highlighted the importance and scope of beekeeping, along with techniques for colony multiplication and honey extraction.

During the technical sessions, Mr. C. Santosh Kumar, Agriculture Field Assistant, explained the structure and behaviour of bee colonies, their communication methods, and the process of assembling and installing bee hives. Mr. Jogeshwar Ram and Ms. Manisha Pathak, Agriculture Field Assistants, elaborated on overall bee management practices and marketing aspects of honey and related products.

A total of 20 farmers participated in the training programme and benefited from the practical and interactive sessions designed to strengthen their capacity in beekeeping and allied activities.
