The North & Middle Andaman Police have successfully rescued a 14-year-old minor girl who had gone missing from the Billiground area and arrested the accused from West Bengal following a swift and technology-driven investigation.

According to police, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Billiground on November 27, 2025, reporting that the Class X student had been missing since November 25. Preliminary enquiries revealed that the minor was last seen boarding a night bus towards Sri Vijaya Puram on November 24 and later travelled to the mainland on November 25 along with an unknown person.

Based on the facts that emerged during the enquiry, an FIR was promptly registered and a special police team was constituted to trace the missing girl. The investigation involved scientific and technical methods, including analysis of Call Detail Records (CDR), Subscriber Detail Records (SDR), and scrutiny of airline passenger manifests.

Sustained technical analysis and field investigation led the police to identify the accused as a resident of Alaipur in Nadia district’s Ranaghat area of West Bengal. Acting on this information, a police team comprising Sub-Inspector Abdul Shakeel, Assistant Sub-Inspector Diana, Head Constable Zulfikar Ahmed, and Head Constable Indira Devi was dispatched to Kolkata. With the support of local police authorities, the team successfully rescued the minor girl and apprehended the accused from Alaipur.

On December 26, 2025, the police team returned safely to Sri Vijaya Puram along with the minor and the accused. After completing all legal formalities, the minor girl was safely handed over to her parents.

The police said the successful operation reflects the North & Middle Andaman Police’s firm commitment to the safety and protection of children and its zero-tolerance approach towards crimes against women and minors. The public has been urged to share any credible information related to crimes or illegal activities with the nearest police station or through emergency numbers 100, 112, or 03192-273344, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential and suitably rewarded.
