The Department of Fisheries, in collaboration with the Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) Department of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, will organize the Island Sea Food Festival–2026 on January 15 and 16, 2026 at the Marina Park Stretch Road, Sri Vijaya Puram. The event is being conducted with financial support from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad.
As part of the festival, a Traditional Boat Race will be held on January 15, 2026 at 9.30 am at the Fish Landing Centre, Junglighat. The race is open exclusively to non-motorized fishing boats (Halis dinghies) possessing valid registration, fishing licences, and Fisher ID cards.
Each participating boat may have a maximum of two crew members. The wearing of life jackets has been made mandatory for all participants to ensure safety during the event.
Owners of non-motorized fishing boats (Halis dinghies) from South Andaman District who are interested in participating have been requested to register their willingness with the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman. The application should include details of the boat, names of the crew members, and copies of the Fisher ID cards of the participants.
The last date for submission of willingness to participate in the Traditional Boat Race has been fixed as January 14, 2026.
