The Directorate of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies (RD, PRIs & ULBs) has conducted a capacity-building training programme on Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar (MGMD) for Panchayat Secretaries and other functionaries of all Gram Panchayats in the Union Territory. The MGMD initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, with the objective of documenting and preserving village-level cultural and natural heritage.
The technical sessions were conducted by State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs), who familiarised participants with the objectives of the MGMD scheme, the roles and responsibilities of Panchayati Raj Institutions, and provided hands-on guidance on using the MGMD portal.
Building upon the orientation imparted to master trainers, a Level-3 District Level Online Training Programme under MGMD was successfully organised on January 14, 2026, for Panchayat Secretaries and other Panchayat functionaries. The online training focused on documentation verification and digital entry of village-level heritage data, enabling participants to effectively implement MGMD activities at the grassroots level.
As part of the initiative, a District Level training programme for District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) was also conducted on January 9 to equip them with a clear understanding of the objectives and operational modalities of the MGMD scheme.
Earlier, the programme commenced with a welcome address by the Assistant Director (RD/P), who emphasised the critical role of Panchayati Raj Institutions and field-level functionaries in ensuring accurate data collection, verification and the successful implementation of the MGMD scheme across villages.
