The 74th Andaman & Nicobar Police Raising Day celebrations concluded on a vibrant and festive note with a spectacular cultural evening featuring the traditional Badakhana at the Police Lines on the evening of January 22, 2026.

The programme witnessed an impressive display of talent, unity and cultural harmony, as police personnel presented a series of colourful and engaging performances. The evening opened with an auspicious Ganesh Vandana dance by a young girl, setting a devotional and energetic tone for the celebrations. This was followed by a range of performances, including comedy skits carrying strong social messages and references to lawful action, soulful solo song and dance presentations, and a powerful cultural drama that struck a chord with the audience.

A highlight of the evening was the spirited performance by the Andaman & Nicobar Police Brass Band Team, whose musical finesse drew resounding applause from the gathering. The audience was further enthralled by an evocative Sufi medley and vibrant group dance performances by police teams, showcasing the rich cultural diversity and artistic excellence within the force.

The function was graced by Mr. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, along with senior officers of the police department. Addressing the gathering, the DGP lauded the dedication, discipline and creative spirit displayed by the performers and appreciated the collective efforts of the participants and organisers. He underlined the importance of such cultural engagements in boosting morale, fostering teamwork and strengthening the sense of camaraderie within the force.

During his address, the DGP also announced several significant welfare initiatives for police personnel, including the conferment of promotional ranks to lower-rank staff on completion of 15 and 25 years of service, clearance of pending welfare-related commitments, continued focus on excellence in coastal security initiatives, and ongoing recruitment drives to further strengthen the police force. He also commended the exemplary contributions and unwavering commitment of Andaman & Nicobar Police personnel towards national service and internal security.

The cultural evening marked a fitting and memorable conclusion to the week-long Police Raising Day celebrations.
