National Voters’ Day 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm and civic spirit at Car Nicobar on January 25, 2026, in line with the theme “My India, My Vote”, underscoring the importance of participatory democracy.
The district-level function was held at the District Library, Headquarter, Car Nicobar, with the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kale highlighted the significance of National Voters’ Day in strengthening democratic values and encouraging informed electoral participation. He also lauded the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for their dedicated efforts in the rigorous implementation of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) activities across the district. On the occasion, he administered the Voters’ Pledge to the participants and felicitated three Best BLOs under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities for NVD–2026.
Superintendent of Police, Nicobar, Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, distributed Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to newly registered voters and presented prizes to the winners of the Essay and Painting Competitions organised as part of voter awareness initiatives.
As part of the celebrations, a cycle rally was organised by the District Administration in coordination with the Police Department, Education Department and Sports Authority of India (SAI). The rally commenced from the SP Office and concluded at the SAI Sports Stadium, aiming to spread awareness about the importance of voting.
SVEEP activities were conducted across the district with active cooperation from the Tribal Council, educational institutions, Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and village headmen, ensuring widespread outreach.
Meanwhile, National Voters’ Day was also observed in the Nancowrie and Campbell Bay Sub-Divisions, where the Assistant Commissioners organised similar programmes, felicitating BLOs and students who excelled in the essay and painting competitions.
