Junior Cyclist Namita Violet Wins Gold at Asia Cup Track Cycling 2026

Ms. Namita Violet, a junior cyclist from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Training Centre (STC), Car Nicobar, has brought laurels to the country by winning the Gold Medal in the Team Sprint event at the Asia Cup Track Cycling 2026, held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from January 29 to 31, 2026.

Impressed by her performance at the Asia Cup, Ms. Violet has been selected for the Junior Indian Cycling Team for the Asian Track Cycling Championships 2026, scheduled to be held in the Philippines from March 26 to 30, 2026.

Ms. Violet is undergoing training at SAI STC Car Nicobar under the guidance of Mr. Vishwajit B. Sutar, Centre In-Charge and Assistant Coach (Cycling), and Mr. Anand V., Assistant Coach (Cycling). Her success reflects the structured training and coaching support provided at the centre.

The achievement has been described as a proud moment for the institution and is attributed to the continued support of the Sports Authority of India, Netaji Subhas Eastern Centre (NSEC), Kolkata, under the leadership of Ms. Amar Jyoti, Executive Director, and Mr. Ravi Kalra (OPS), Deputy Director, SAI NSEC Kolkata.

Ms. Namita Violet’s achievement stands as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and highlights the growing strength of Indian cycling at the international level.
