The Electricity Department has announced a major consumer-friendly initiative to shift all future communications to Digital Mode, aiming to improve service delivery and convenience for consumers.

According to the department, electricity bills, power supply updates, and other related information will henceforth be disseminated through digital mode, through push SMS to consumers on their registered mobile numbers. This move is intended to ensure timely and efficient communication while reducing reliance on physical modes.

In addition, the department is in the process of developing an integrated feedback system to assess service delivery and evaluate the outreach of government schemes and programmes among electricity consumers. The proposed system will be linked with the billing software and will be capable of retrieving consumer details through the entry of a name or registered mobile number, thereby enhancing ease of access and responsiveness.

To facilitate the smooth implementation of this initiative, all consumers have been requested to provide their own mobile number or that of a responsible family member to the concerned site offices for updating their consumer profiles.

The department stated that the initiative is aimed at strengthening communication, improving transparency, and enhancing overall consumer convenience.
