Unidentified human skeletal remains were found washed ashore at Ramnagar Beach in Kalighat on 30/01/2026 at about 0530 hrs, prompting police action and a forensic examination.
According to a PR received, a police team immediately rushed to the spot and registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case vide FIR No. 02/26 dated January 30, 2026, under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
The skeletal remains were subsequently shifted to GB Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram, where a post-mortem examination was conducted by the Department of Forensic Medicine, ANIIMS. The remains have since been preserved at the cold mortuary of GB Pant Hospital.
Police stated that the deceased was found wearing a red T-shirt and a green checked half pant. However, the identity of the deceased could not be established so far.
