A one-day workshop on Financial Literacy was conducted on Tuesday at the CMTC building of the Block Development Office (BDO), Ferrargunj, under the aegis of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM). The programme aimed at enhancing financial awareness and promoting safe and responsible financial practices among Self-Help Group (SHG) members of the Ferrargunj Block.
The workshop was attended by Ms. Jyoti Singh, Secretary, Financial & Tax Literacy Directorate, ICAI; Ms. Mahima, Content Writer, Financial & Tax Literacy Directorate; and Chartered Accountants Mr. Kuldeep Kothari and Mr. Ankit Maheshwari. The resource persons shared their expertise during interactive sessions and addressed queries raised by the participants.
The sessions focused on encouraging prudent financial behaviour among SHG members. Topics covered included the importance of maintaining basic financial records, timely filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR), understanding taxation fundamentals, and adopting safe digital banking practices.
Participants were also sensitised on verifying information before undertaking financial transactions, safeguarding confidential banking details, and promptly reporting any suspected fraudulent activities to banks or concerned authorities.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Block Development Officer, Ferrargunj, Ms. Lalita Tigga. The workshop was well received by the participants and is expected to strengthen financial decision-making and promote financial safety among SHG members in the block.
