The State Bank of India Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Sri Vijaya Puram, successfully concluded a 10-day training programme on mushroom cultivation at Hope Town Panchayat on Wednesday.
The programme, organised with the support of the Directorate of Agriculture, witnessed the active participation of around 35 women members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM). The training commenced on January 30 and focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills in mushroom cultivation as a viable income-generating activity.
Addressing the valedictory function, Mr. P. K. Ummer Farooq, Chief Manager and UTLBC Lead Bank, congratulated the trainees on successfully completing the programme. He encouraged them to utilise the skills acquired during the training to achieve financial independence through mushroom cultivation.
Mr. C. Raj, Director of RSETI, appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the SHG women in learning a new trade to supplement their family income while managing household responsibilities. He highlighted the importance of such skill-based initiatives in promoting self-employment and rural entrepreneurship.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Naveen Rajkumar, Faculty of the Institute.
