Workshop Held on Prevention and Control of Snake Bite Envenoming at Garacharma District Hospital

A one-day workshop-cum-training programme on prevention and control of snake bite envenoming was organised by the Directorate of Health Services in association with the National Health Mission on Thursday at District Hospital, Garacharma.

The programme aimed at strengthening the capacity of healthcare professionals in managing snake bite cases effectively and reducing associated mortality and morbidity.

Dr. Subrata Saha, State Nodal Officer for Prevention and Control of Snake Bite Envenoming, highlighted the critical role of healthcare workers in ensuring prompt diagnosis and treatment. He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to minimise complications arising from snake bites.

Dr. Rajiv Kumar Gosh, MPH, District Public Health Officer (South Andaman), spoke on key aspects including early identification of snake bites, administration of appropriate first aid, community awareness strategies, and the significance of timely medical intervention.

The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion on the challenges faced by healthcare professionals in handling snake bite cases and the need for continued training and preparedness to address such emergencies effectively.
