The three-day Theatre Festival under the 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav commenced on Friday at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Auditorium, SVPMC, with the staging of the acclaimed Hindi satire ‘Taj Mahal Ka Tender’ by the National School of Drama (NSD) Repertory Company.

Organised by the Directorate of Art & Culture, A&N Administration, in collaboration with NSD, the festival opened to an enthusiastic audience, with the play drawing laughter and applause for its sharp wit and energetic performances. Written by Ajay Shukla, the production humorously reimagines Emperor Shah Jahan’s dream project as a never-ending tender process.

He also announced a 10-day Book Fair at ITF Ground from February 14 to 22 in association with the National Book Trust. Commissioner-cum-Secretary Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, was also present.

Prof. Dinesh Khanna, former NSD Director, expressed hope that the festival would strengthen theatre activities in the Islands. The festival continues with ‘Mai Ri Main Ka Se Kahun’ on February 14 at 6 pm. Entry is free.
