The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC) / DISHA meeting for South Andaman district was convened at the Conference Hall of the Disaster Management Office under the chairmanship of Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman; the Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman; Mr. Prakash Adhikari; heads of various departments; and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions from across the district.
The session focused on strengthening the monitoring mechanism of developmental initiatives within the constitutional framework defining the roles of the Central Government, the UT Administration, and local bodies. The Member of Parliament emphasised the need for collaborative governance and timely execution of government schemes to effectively address the developmental priorities of South Andaman.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to submit a detailed report within one week outlining the observations made and actions suggested by the Member of Parliament. Departments failing to comply within the stipulated timeframe would face appropriate action.
The meeting concluded with instructions for regular monitoring and follow-up to ensure accelerated development and improved service delivery across South Andaman district.
