Tourism Department to Conduct Astro Guide Training in Mayabunder and Little Andaman

The Tourism Department of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration will conduct a Skill Development Training Programme for Astro Guides at Mayabunder from March 5 to 7, 2026, and at Little Andaman from March 10 to 12, 2026.

The training programme aims to build local capacity in astro-tourism by equipping participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in night sky observation, basic astronomy, telescope handling, interpretation techniques, and responsible astro-tourism practices. The initiative forms part of the Department’s efforts to diversify tourism offerings and promote sustainable, experience-based tourism across the Islands.

Local youth, tourism stakeholders, and nature enthusiasts have been encouraged to participate and make use of the opportunity to enhance their skills and explore emerging livelihood avenues in the field of astro-tourism.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age: Below 40 years
  • Educational Qualification: Minimum 12th pass from any recognized Board/University

The duly filled-in forms must be submitted to the Planning Section, Directorate of Tourism, on or before March 2, 2026, by 3 pm.
