The Free Press Journal recently reported that an exercise is underway by the Govt. of India to hand over the charge of the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Mr. Praful Patel, the administrator of the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu as well as Lakshadweep.
Mr. Praful Patel is a former politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Gujarat and has served as the MoS Home Minister of Gujarat under the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Narendra Modi.
Mr. Praful Patel held the position of the Mos Home Minister of Gujarat from 21st August 2010 to 17th December 2012.
The report in The Free Press Journal also suggests that the Govt. of India wants to handover the responsibility of the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Mr. Praful Patel because of the success achieved by him in providing the benefits of the schemes of the Central Govt. to the last person of the society.
In the same story, The Free Press Journal reported that the Central Govt. is preparing to give representation to the Union Territories in Rajya Sabha and along with Lok Sabha now Rajya Sabha will also get an opportunity to present the development needs and problems of the Union Territories.
