The Operation Theatre (OT) team of Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder successfully handled three critical emergency surgeries in quick succession on March 2, 2026, demonstrating prompt response and coordinated teamwork in managing high-risk maternal cases.
According to information received, the first case involved an emergency Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) for a patient referred from Diglipur. The patient was at 39 weeks of pregnancy and had been diagnosed with oligohydramnios, a condition characterized by reduced amniotic fluid. Timely surgical intervention by the medical team ensured the safe delivery of the baby and stabilization of the mother.
The second case involved a primigravida patient who was admitted with footling breech presentation and Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM), complicated by sepsis. Considering the critical nature of the case, the doctors immediately proceeded with emergency surgical management, preventing further complications for both the mother and the newborn.
In another emergency case, the team carried out a laparotomy on a patient suffering from a seven-week ectopic pregnancy. The patient had been referred from the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Rangat and was reported to be in a critical condition. Swift surgical intervention by the team helped save her life.
The surgeries were led by Dr. Meenakshi C.K., Gynecologist, and Dr. Hosanna Sharon, Anesthetist, who managed the three high-risk emergency cases without interruption.
