A two-day training programme on ‘Livestock Vaccination and Feeds & Fodder’ was organised by the CD Block Prothrapur for Self-Help Group (SHG) members under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) at Gram Panchayat Neil Kendra on March 9 and 10.
The programme was conducted in coordination with the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS). Senior Veterinary Officer, Dr. Gali Venkata Sriharsha, along with his team, served as resource persons and provided detailed training on livestock vaccination and scientific feeding practices.
During the programme, participants were given practical demonstrations on livestock vaccination to help them understand proper immunisation techniques. The resource team also demonstrated Azolla cultivation and explained its benefits as a nutritious and cost-effective feed supplement for livestock.
The training witnessed enthusiastic participation from SHG members, who expressed keen interest in learning improved livestock management practices. Participants requested that vaccines be made available locally so that they can vaccinate their livestock themselves in a timely manner. They also conveyed their willingness to adopt Azolla cultivation to enhance the productivity of their livestock.
Ms. Pinkey Das, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Neil Kendra, also attended the programme and encouraged SHG members to apply the knowledge gained from the training to strengthen their livelihood activities.
