Sri Vijaya Puram, March 17, 2026
Residents and visitors of Sri Vijaya Puram have been urged to adopt responsible water usage practices and contribute towards conserving water, a precious natural resource.
In an appeal issued to the public, people have been encouraged to actively participate in water conservation efforts by following a set of simple do’s and don’ts in their daily routines. The initiative aims to promote mindful consumption of water and prevent wastage, especially in households and public spaces.
Among the suggested measures, citizens have been advised to ensure that taps are properly closed after use, limit shower time, and turn off water while brushing teeth, shaving, or washing their face. The public has also been asked to regularly check toilets and wash basins for leakages and install water-saving fixtures such as efficient toilets and shower heads.
Residents have further been encouraged to use washing machines only with full loads, sweep driveways and sidewalks instead of washing them with water, and use self-closing nozzles on hoses. Collecting rainwater for purposes such as watering gardens and lawns or washing vehicles has also been recommended as an effective way to conserve water.
At the same time, the public has been advised to avoid common practices that lead to unnecessary water wastage. These include allowing taps to drip, running water while brushing or shaving, flushing toilets unnecessarily, watering driveways or sidewalks, and letting water run continuously while washing dishes.
Authorities have emphasized that collective efforts by the community can significantly contribute to conserving water resources and ensuring their availability for the future. Citizens and visitors have been urged to remain conscious of their water usage and support the ongoing efforts to promote sustainable water management.
