The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Friday released the 22nd instalment (December 2025 – March 2026) of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from the Jyoti-Bishnu International Cultural Centre in Guwahati.

The PM-KISAN scheme, a Central Sector initiative launched in February 2019, aims to provide financial assistance to landholding farmers across the country. Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each, directly credited to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Department of Agriculture organised programmes across all blocks and several Gram Panchayats to facilitate the live telecast of the Prime Minister’s address and the release event. The programmes, held on March 13, witnessed participation from farmers, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) officials, and departmental staff.

According to official figures, over 2,481 participants attended the live webcast sessions across the Islands.

During the release of the 22nd instalment, a total of ₹2.64 crore was disbursed to 12,993 eligible farmers in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Since the inception of the scheme, cumulative financial assistance amounting to ₹62.013 crore has been provided to farmers in the Union Territory.

The initiative continues to play a significant role in supporting farmers by supplementing their income and addressing agricultural and household financial needs.
