A mock fire drill was recently conducted by the Fire Station Baratang at the ANIIDCO Petrol Pump in Baratang to evaluate emergency response time, firefighting efficiency, and coordination among staff.

The simulated scenario involved a fire breaking out at the fuel dispenser line during diesel refilling into a 40 KL underground storage tank. Responding swiftly to the emergency call, the firefighting team reached the site within three minutes.

Fire suppression operations were immediately initiated using a delivery hose and foam compound, successfully bringing the situation under control in a short span of time. The prompt and coordinated action demonstrated the preparedness of the fire personnel in handling such emergencies.

Following the drill, a post-exercise session was conducted focusing on safety protocols, key observations, and lessons learned. Basic training on first aid and the use of firefighting equipment was also imparted to participants.

The drill witnessed active participation from petrol pump staff, management, and members of the public. The exercise aimed at enhancing awareness, strengthening preparedness, and ensuring strict adherence to safety norms at fuel stations.
