Many cases of Lumpy Skin Disease in Cattle were reported from Great Nicobar recently. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services started vaccinating the cattle in the Island to prevent further spread of the disease and to stop the loss that the farmers have incurred.

Vaccines to prevent Lumpy Skin Disease were administered to stray cattle at Campbell Bay by the Department of AH&VS with the support of Govind Nagar Panchayat on 28th June 2022. Mr. Venkat Rao, Pradhan, Govind Nagar Panchayat arranged for the stay cattle to be caught and the Senior Veterinary Officer and her team vaccinated the stray cattle.

Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services is doing a fantastic job in Great Nicobar. Several farmers have appreciated the efforts of the department.
